After all said and very done....

Gawsh,

To say I have not missed you guys is like saying there is no love in this world and Ebola never invaded Africa and Nigeria isn't a great country!!! Yea yea I know.....Ebun has come again...lol. But really life is too short to take it too seriously abi!!

Its been a beautiful mix of excitement and chaos....2 house moves...a full relocation...trying to settle in a new terrain...amidst everyday hustle...but God has been faithful. I have been nudged over and over again to write. "Ebun we miss you naaa... your tips, nagging and advice". I keep getting countless emails and messages. I am soo sorry my booboos....I allowed life try to take this precious medium away from me....away from us.

You will definitely see more of me now....more tips...more nags....more hugs ...more nudges. It really can't be too much..... Fitness and wellness rock and we really should just keep devising new ways of enjoying it than throwing in the towel. Remember it is not a destination...its a Journey! and we will keep learning.

My most recent vacation actually inspired me to write again...to blog again. I might even consider the V log thingy!!hehehehe.  I came back from an almost 3 week vacay without adding a pound!!!!! For me that is an achievement (I celebrate every step o)....for most women its a dream. And it wasn't a working or shopping holiday.....I did a lot of lounging.....and didn't go to the gym for a second even though when considering the hotel I made sure they had a standard one...yinmu!!

Ok so what did I do...what worked for me? One thing I didn't do was feed on only salads!! I am not gonna come here and lie biko. Yea I had rich full salads a coupla times....some nice fresh juices and really nice multi grain sandwiches but also had enough cheat meals *covering my eyes in semi shame*. To mention a few......

I just HARDLY ORDERED A SEPARATE MEAL FOR MYSELF......hence my portion control was on a lock down!!! I have an almost four year old who because her older siblings order full size meals would follow suit....so I would oblige her and share that meal with her!!!! That's all. We practiced real time LOVE IN SHARING!! hehehe. So that plus all the skiing, waka dugbeing and gallivanting I came back the same with toner thighs sef!! Though a Detox is still in order sha....just because...

Honestly we need to learn to live but apply wisdom at the same time. Just imagine working soo hard to get the summer body just to regain all that weight and more in 3 weeks!! Because we are on vacay!!. You forget you will still come back to reality!!.....so you berra be sharp!!

Lets start our week on that note huns......
muah!

Set the mood right....

My boobooboos
*Yaaaawn*

I am literally nodding off as I type! Gosh! My back hurts from bad posture whilst sitting ( I really need to work on that, my mum has nagged since I was little!)....BUT I am feeling somewhat depressed.

I know I really shouldn't be.....its been a very productive week in all areas but I guess my cravings needed to be productive too and I gave in like a lost puppy!!! ptcheeeeeeuuuuw! Bad Bad child*boohoohoo*. As what will most times come with a busy and productive week - stress! My driver baled on me so aside mental stress.....a whole lot of driving in this town with all the consulting and coconut oil deliveries! Hian! Not funny rara. I feel totally drained and wanna just find a little corner, curl up and sleep for 48 hours straight!
So though I am not  trying to find excuses, but I literally turned to food for comfort! Darn!!! All my detoxing hard work almost down the drain! Heaven hug me pleeeaassse!

I know I encouraged us all to do a detox.....a cleanse from all the festive greasy grub and alchy....but coming out of that strict environment...you need to create the right atmosphere for continuity and sustainability. You need to learn from mama's mistakes o...as I hadn't gotten round to creating that atmosphere for myself.

Toxic: A word that should not describe your environment if you’re hoping to have positive results in your weight loss journey. A new survey of psychologists says emotional eating is one of the biggest obstacles to weight loss and maintenance. ( chai....like I haven't always known. Really rolling my eyes for me). One of the best ways to stave off emotional eating is to create an environment for success. One that feeds you emotionally, which can prepare you to feed yourself physically and spiritually. With a space that's less stressful, you can stay motivated on your road to a healthy lifestyle.

Surround Yourself with Healthy Food
If you keep good food in your fridge and pantry, you will eat good food! shikena!!! Hmmmmm coming to think of it, that is mainly what shot me in the leg this past week o. Not fully settled in the new house...so the pantry and fridge have no plan or structure. It was just a scenario of eating what I see!

When grocery shopping, leave indulgences at the table so that you don’t find a reason to eat the leftovers simply because it’s in the fridge or pantry. If you share treats with friends socially, they’ll be more enjoyable and you may feel less guilty than if you’d eaten it on your own. Fill your refrigerator with vegetables, fruit, protein, dairy and your cupboard with grains like buckwheat, barley, quinoa, and brown rice and cereals like cheerios and old fashioned oats. Keep healthy snacks handy in little baggies such as nuts, air popped popcorn, and dried fruit.

If you work out at home and use equipment, keep the equipment visible. If you see it rather than have to drag it out of the closet or from under the bed, you are more likely to use it!

Surround Yourself with Positive People
For me this is the 2nd most important! and I'm positive you’ve heard all before . The team environment is a plus no matter how you look at it. Having like-minded people with similar goals around you and sharing your experiences can help you keep pushing forward when you hit a bump in the weight loss road. Knowing you are not alone, and having someone to pick you up with words of encouragement and a you-can-do-it challenge is always better to have as an option, as opposed to nothing all......That is the heartbeat of F.i.t.T.r.i.x.

Find like-minded people and meet them face-to-face to workout, eat at healthy restaurants, or run a 5k. By creating shared experiences you learn to create a healthier social lifestyle. It took a community to teach you how to eat terribly and sit around and it’ll take another community to change your ways.

Use Social Media
Biko its the jet age....Chances are you’re either on your computer or phone or Ipad at least a 100 times a day, so why not use it to motivate you? You’ve got the keeping-a-food-log memo and etc, but did you know that using social media could make you more successful at weight loss.  Whether you blog, post on Facebook, Tweet about it, or put it on your PM, finding information, getting support, or sharing your weight loss progress has been shown to be better for your waist line than being silent........WHY? ACCOUNTABILITY IS A MAJOR MOTIVATOR.

Other ways to use technology to motivate you is by using goal-setting apps to remind you of your goals. You can also use your background for a motivating quote, goal picture, or an activity that keeps your eyes on the prize. Seeing a scenic picture of where you’ll be travelling this summer, that yoga pose that you’ve been trying so hard to get down, or even the finish line of a race you’re working on will push you to work for it.

Design an Achievement Calendar
Achievements are a big deal. Very very big o! We know na. Even from nursery school days! So, something as small as a consistent 15-minute workout everyday or only having a tiny piece of that donut as against the whole bun or the entire tray at the office (and tracking it!) counts! The more you celebrate your achievements, the more you’ll want to maintain and keep your progress going. You’re probably a pro at pointing out what’s wrong, but make it a habit to track those little wins, too.
 An achievement calendar will:
  1. Help you recognize track progress from a lifestyle perspective vs. only numbers.
  2. Help you get in touch with the positive feelings associated with doing something positive.
  3. Help you decide where more work is needed.
  4. Keep you motivated to achieve more goals.
Like a vision board, you can use a large calendar or white board to list one small nutrition and one fitness related goal each day or a bigger one each week. Whatever it takes to celebrate something you did right each day, Just do it!

At F.i.t.T.r.i.x ........where wellness meets fabulosity.......we offer S.P.A at your pace and are fully committed to your cause.

Start of a New You.....

Smoooooooshies :D *hughug*

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY BOOBOOS!

Oh my Goodness! I sure as heaven have missed you all.....ta! devil gerraway! You cannot come between our love* in chi gurls voice*.
Assssiiin ehn....from the middle of November to even as I write.....overwhelmingly busy is an understatement o....Hian! From wedding planning to falling ill after the wedding, (due to stress the doctor says) to moving houses....its been a full plate!. But there was not ONE day I didn't think about you and worry that "my children" might backslide.
So as its only the 10th day of the year and its already super busy......I can as well take the bull by the horn and get a grip. Its just sank in....it ain't gonna get any less busy for me....I am just gonna have to learn how to make it ALL work.

I must say that I am totally humbled by the show of love both home and abroad via emails, BB and even phone calls! I felt/feel RELEVENT and it just further affirms that I HAVE FOUND MY MINISTRY. I am totally totally grateful.....

Abeg collect another hug and kiss......muah!

How was the festive season? I know though most of us don't really go down that route of buying Xmas shoes and making Xmas hair as such.....but I know we still splurge then....and binge and binge and binge! Food is suddenly everywhere....every nook and cranny...and initially you can resist the "bad ones"...but its only a matter of time! Teeheehee. Don't kill your self biko....even the best of us fall #weakshysmile #creamyalchytins

Not to worry....mama is back!

Any NYR?.......New Year Resolutions? To be totally honest January is a good time to try to make things right and start afresh, though I know it might sound cliché. Its simply because it brings a newness and a "feel good" feeling of YES I CAN. Its a great time to re evaluate your life....look back and determine what is important to you that needs an upgrade. Taking total control of your weight and lifestyle should top that list.....or be at least in the top 3.

To cut the long story short......you need a Detox to help with a system reset and total cleanse as you start a new year....shikena! Fruits and veggies are the usual suspects used for this job mainly because it is packed full with anti-oxidants and vitamins......and most are bulked with fiber, hence pretty filling.
Detoxification is the process of removing toxins from the body. The process to detoxify your body involves many different elements such as herbal detoxification regimens, change of diet and vitamin supplements. It is one of the best ways to rid your body of toxins, which can slow it down and make it unhealthy. The process of detoxification requires A LOT OF discipline.

Physical Benefits

The most noticeable benefits from detoxification are the physical ones. Since the toxins store up in major organs, detoxification will help these areas the most. The organs which are affected, such as the liver and stomach, will begin to work more effectively. After the detox is completed, you may feel "lighter" and have more energy. Also, since a detox is used to clear away free radicals, your body's immune system will be stronger and you will have a lower risk of getting cancer. Finally, a detoxification regimen will clear your blood, helping it circulate better.

Mental Benefits

Toxins and free radicals that accumulate in the body can also affect brain functions. Before a detox, you may have trouble sleeping, chronic fatigue, and trouble with your concentration. Once you work through this process, many of these issues will gradually disappear. You will be able to sleep better and concentrate more.

Lifestyle Changes

A benefit which most people don't think of can be the change to your lifestyle. As you progress through the body detox, you will begin to feel better physically and mentally. This feeling can be addictive and lead to changing your lifestyle to cut out bad elements which give your body those toxins. Quitting smoking, eating better, reducing alcohol and getting more exercise are all actions which help protect the body. After a detox is a perfect time to begin these actions.

Evidently, we want to also use this opportunity to shed some of the extra pounds and generally fine tune our minds to our main goal.........Maintaining a healthy weight via a healthy lifestyle.

Do a Detox......your body will be grateful....your skin ecstatic....even your hair will do the mumba :D......and you will thank me later!

On a natural high....

Hi my booboos......how was your week? Biko I am speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeent! Wedding planning no be yam o! Hian! Wedding planners should be given more kudos biko! So my sister that did her introduction in July is getting married in exactly 2 Saturdays from now *imscreamingandpullingmyhair... .stilltoomuchtodo*  #breatheinbreatheout. But I'm super super excited though as iya iyawo :D....*dancing azonto+alingo+skelewu.

So to the talk of today! YES OOO.....I AINT TIRED OF NAGGING YOU PEEPS.....but will continue to do it in LOVE :D.

Do you know that what you eat has an effect on your mood and metabolism?

Metabolism by the way is the process your body uses to break down food. Ensuring your metabolism is working most effectively will help you feel your best and energized to get the most out of life.

These are the habits I introduced to my life that has helped me constantly....

1. Resist Skipping Meals
Skipping or missing a meal can cause a dip in your blood sugar, leading to crankiness and lethargy. Maintain your blood sugar levels, and your energy, by eating small amounts of food throughout the day. You might even prefer eating six smaller meals rather than three large ones.

2. Stay Hydrated
Dehydration can also make you feel sluggish and lethargic. Be sure to drink throughout the day, and don’t rely on thirst alone to remind you to have another glass of water. Some experts say the average person needs about eight glasses of water, and that may be hard to drink without reminders. I constantly struggled with drinking water......found it highly boring so I devised ways of drinking it by spiking it to give it flavor.

3. Think Moderation, Especially for Low-Nutrient Foods
Avoid a lot of caffeine, refined carbohydrates (sugar), alcohol, salt, and other food additives. Any of these, especially in large amounts, can decrease your metabolic efficiency. “Eating large quantities of carbohydrates tends to cause an energy rush and then a big crash, which can lead to crankiness and fatigue. Excess salt can disrupt your fluid balance, changing your daily water needs, not to mention increasing health risks like high blood pressure.

4. Strive for Balance in the Food You Eat
Properly combine protein, carbohydrates, and fat to achieve a balanced energy intake. In general, a healthy diet includes a mix of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and some protein, but each person has individual needs based on age, sex, physical activity level, body size, and stress factors. To determine the best foods for you, you would need to consult to  help you find the right balance.

5. Get a Boost From “Good Mood” Food
While research about the mood- and metabolism-boosting qualities of certain foods is mixed, foods high in the amino acid tryptophan have been found to increase serotonin levels in the brain, contributing to feelings of optimism and calm. Add some bananas, avocados, dried apricots, walnuts, almonds etc for some extra tryptophan. Polyunsaturated omega-3 fats help elevate mood and reduce anxiety and depression. Look for omega-3-rich fish, like salmon and mackerel; walnuts and pumpkin seeds are also sources of these healthy fatty acids.

Salmon.....e cost sha o.....so once a blue moon for me...abi na!

This is more accessible.....good ole titus :D. The grilled type is heavenly!

6. Keep a Food "Diary"
Some foods can have the opposite effect of tryptophan and instead trigger negative changes in mood and cause irritability or headaches. If you think a particular food might be affecting your mood, start a food diary. Record all the foods you eat each day and how you feel before and after every meal. After two weeks, review your entries to see if any foods line up with specific moods, either good or bad.

In addition to following a healthy diet, regular exercise will keep your body working most effectively and will augment both your mood and metabolism. The key message here is balance. A variety of healthy foods with a dose of exercise will help you maintain your energy, speed up your metabolism, and boost your mood.

Need to run huns.........I'm "zumbaing" later this morning for 4 hours straight!......I need my beauty and energy sleep....can't wait! muah!

They did it!!....you can too!

Hi my Booboos, I am super duper excited!! It was about six months ago I opened my "yansh" in order to be able to help people!!!. Its been an exciting time to be honest. Doing what I am thoroughly passionate about, inspiring and helping people, facilitating wellness seminars and my latest addition, F.i.t.T.r.i.x Deli.

I am also super excited and feel like a proud mum as I have some very beautiful women who have changed their lives and are not too shy telling their stories. I would be showcasing different ladies from time to time. Some I directly mentored under the F.i.t.T.r.i.x Academy Programme, some lost the weight just following my weekly write ups and asking me questions and one special lady lost all that weight by trusting me and being hardworking!!!. She inspired the confidence to start F.i.t.T.r.i.x.

EBUN AWOSIKA

Ebun Akinwale and I have been besties since secondary school and when she lost all her weight I was shocked and happy for her.I remember she wanted to know how I did it when I lost weight the 1st time a few years back, now the tables were totally turned. lol. Anyway, when she started FITTRIX, I was pretty broke but I was determined to join, I needed to lose weight, and if I believed in anyone in this world, I believed very much in Ebunoluwa Akinwale, she has never been anything but good in anything she dabbled in even back in school. The pride of having a previous weight loss experience did not even enter my head. I knew she would be a great mentor in my journey.

I had began my the insanity program a little while before I joined fittrix and I had not lost even a bit in weight. I joined fittrix at the very end of May and I got the lovely package with the food scale and the coconut oil and the other freebies. After 2 weeks of detox, I lost over 4kg. My food timetable was reviewed every other week, I actually began to enjoy eating healthy. By the end of August, I had lost 15kg. I am a very comfortable size 10 and I am about 20 kg down now. I need to say this, even if a Fittrix client gets lazy, you would not be able to successfully, we all fondly call Ebun "mummy". I tell you, she is all up in your face, no time to be lazy, I would call Ebun in the night to tell her I am too tired to work out and she would not push me but encourage me to workout. "Eyes on the goal" she would always say. I tell her I can't thank her enough!

I absolutely love working out and with Fittrix, we do not diet but we learn to "eat better", its all about "wellness" and healthy eating so it sort of does not end, it guides you forever. I absolutely love my look.
Thank God for Fittrix. *wink wink*

NMA  ONOH

It was a Sunday morning in February 2013,and I got into my wardrobe in search of what to wear to church. I brought out a flowery purple dress which I had worn when I was 5months preggie(Dec 2012) for my 2nd baby and ALAS! It couldn't fit in my body. I managed to get my hubby to zip it up,yet I couldn't breathe, then I told myself the truth,I needed to shed weight fast! As at feb 10,2013 I weighed 99kg which was way way too much for my height(ideally I should weigh btw 65-68kg for my height)
Then I got motivated and started personally researching healthy food in take, exercises I could do.
I reconnected with my pal Ebun of FitTrix and met Yinka of FOCUSIMS and Tayo of FADD-these Ladies were my greatest motivators! Ebun's weekly write ups are very insightful and are a constant guide.
Then I would park my car and walk from point A to point B, skip, invested in workout DVDs, and do everything to burn calories daily!
I started taking time to invest in what I put in my mouth: I’ve learnt through this whole process that if I don’t plan what I’m going to eat I’m setting myself up for failure. Sundays I stock and prepare meals for the whole week. I bring my lunch every day to work…. I cannot allow any excuses. I also learnt to have 50%protein, 20%fruits,20%veggies and 10%carbs as a meal in my plate. I also drink not less than 2Litres of water daily.
As at Oct 2013 I currently weigh 77.8kg. I wouldn't relent until I hit 70kg and then I go on maintenance.

CHIKA NELSON-COLE

She called me up and said Ebun o I just saw your pictures.....I need to loose weight! And I was like u ke? Cos I have always known her to be lepa. But apparently the same old wahala.....belle and breastfeeding! So she had jumped from a size 8/10 to a 14/almost 16!. She signed up eventually and was my first graduating "student" To be totally honest I was impressed, not only because she had a baby and had a crazy schedule but also because she knew what she wanted, didn't give excuses and went for it. Her first milestone achievement which made her elated was being able to remove her wedding ring which had been stuck!

At the end of the 3 month programme she lost about 15kg and has beautifully maintained it ever since. Her husband saw me the other day and said..."Thank you" I had a new wave of fulfillment.

FATIMA HUSSEIN ODOGWU

#MY 9 WEEKS FAST RESPONSE#.
My weight loss journey so far with FITTRIX inspiring writeups. Have struggled with my weight for several months as a result of carelessness and laziness.(una know naa). I allowed my body gained extra Kgs especially my TUMMY  which gave my body a funny, bumpy shape. When I read Ebun (madam fittrix) fondly called by me's story, I was inspired, I was challenged and determined to give myself a little try. Her saturday dose of write up which I tittled* Sweet Weightloss Alomo* :D  has been encouraging and mind blowing too. So as a good student that I am, had to copy and paste in my brain sharply. * Do it myself Weightloss*. How did I overcome? before I started applying her points to my daily live, I was weighing 88.5 kg- but just 9weeks later, I feel lighter and my story has changed. I now weigh 74.3(saturday 26/oct/2013). No more junks, :p . I eat everything I want but little of them. *Healthy eating /living together*. My tummy is now in shape and all the extra weights/kgs gone down the drain and I can wear what I want now(.wink). I am happy and so amazed with my quick results /changed that I wanted to share my experience. I feel d best I have in years! Thank you Ebun. You are d best. Live Long. @>--

TEMMIE

She said to me Sis....write it on my behalf...you know wassup!! You can share my story....I will try and make it brief.

This was the young lady that inspired the confidence to start F.i.t.T.r.i.x. She reached out to me last year and said the doctor says I need to loose weight for health reasons. She hadn't seen her period in months and of course it was not a matter of being pregnant. So at 115kg she had started on her own by going to the gym and juggling what to eat and lost 10kg but then got stuck. In frustration she called me and said she wasn't interested any more and was tired etc. I said no, you need this for you, what do you want? She said she didn't know what to eat and all that. So I got to work, put her under my "wings" and started giving meal ideas, how to combine, when to eat, educated her on calories. I still remember once she asked me if taking too much water will make her add weight? I choked with laughter! We were constantly in touch. She kept up with the gym and I became like a mentor. Fast forward to about 6 months after she was down to 75kg!!!!! So I believed if I could help her...I could help many more people.

And all that with no quick fix or special milk shake or pill etc.....kept her head in the game, focused and lost ALL that weight. To be honest that's a lot of weight in 6 months, but I would attribute it to the 2 hours in the gym 6 times a week +eating right!! Remember, exercise with eating right would speed up your weight loss.

Presently she's is in her healthy BMI range and has not only maintained the weight but even further lost an additional 7kg! A total of 47kg!I asked her why she felt the need to, and she says you are my mentor and I want to be in your range (I weigh about 69kg now). I just laughed and said...you are very ok now, no more.

We did the radio interview together some time back.....she is the face of F.i.t.T.r.i.x! Watch out for the billboards :P

The Magic Wonder........continua

Good morning my booboos,

Trust you all had a great week? I did....really busy but very fulfilling and topped with my baby's birthday yesterday....she had a blast and loved her F.i.t.T.r.i.x Deli Rainbow cake.....healthy but still yum!!! And yes I made it myself!!! Like I do all my other healthy cakes and treats! hahahahahaa.....

As promised last week, I need to let you know the other wonderful benefits of this oil, according to research.

Hair care:
Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. It is effective in reducing the protein loss for damaged and undamaged hair.
Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. Most of the people in these countries apply coconut oil on their hair daily after bath. Coconut oil is also good for the immune system. It strengthens the immune system as it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV (na so them talk o).
